22: Initial ideas

Youth Drama.

PLANNING IDEAS(first):

As a group we looked up different ways in which we could start off the remake we are going to make. We ended up finding a clip of a video game trailer called Dead Island. Within the trailer the protagonist is seen dead on the floor in the opening scene. We thought we could use this idea and reverse the events from that initial point by jump cutting from the main event to the a day or two before the event took place.

Social Groups and Character types:

In our remake we want to show youth/gang life and how it affects people in reality. Because there are only three of us (two boys and one girl) we are going to get help from some of our friends, from college and from where we live, to help us in making our youth drama look as real as it possible can.

POSSIBLE IDEAS:

  • Rivals gangs resulting in a fight causing serious injury

  • The protagonist(a male) gets himself caught up in a gang and ends up in a fatal situation

  • Based around honey trap (female protagonist) and how they are affected i a gang/youth environment

AREAS:

As a group we figured out an area close to all of us that could get a good aspect of youth life was Camden and the areas around.

The nightlife of camden will set a great atmosphere for our youth drama and is authentic as it is a popular area from youths to hang around.

GENDER: Mainly males as that is the social stereotype of a gang (use our friends to form numbers)

CLOTHING:

Mainly items like trainers, hooded jumpers/ hoodies and tracksuits or baggy jeans to support the stereotype of a gang.

Actors will have to use slang in their speech to present the idiolect a gang member would have.

Actions: Needs violence, drug and alcohol use and crime.

MISE EN SCENE:

A boxing club is a cliche and overly used way of starting a youth drama and could work well for our remake.
